Facebook Groups, Events and Third-Party Apps- Suspension of Schedule Posts to Facebook Groups.

Earlier this month, Facebook made a huge decision to suspend its Groups API. Starting in early April, Facebook suspended its Groups and Events API without any notice. These changes have had negative effects on some social media scheduling apps and others services that provide scheduling and posting in the Groups API. Some Groups scheduling tools have been forced to stop completely since the API was suspended; others are scrambling to change business models or are waiting for updates from Facebook.
As the owner of a large Business Community Groups in Orlando, FL, Orlando Community Network,
I carefully monitor people who spam or auto post to my group. Social Media Managers are having a tough time with the changes too. Groups have been gaining popularity in recent years with Facebook making it harder for Pages to rank in user’s Newsfeeds. So even as more people begin to use Groups, they’re harder than ever to use.
From Social Media Today: Facebook has been putting more emphasis on Groups of late, adding new tools and features to help promote increased use of what Facebook themselves have labeled an ‘under-appreciated product’. Many don’t realize it, but Groups has over a billion monthly active users.

As noted by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in his recent mission statement:

“We recently found that more than 100 million people on Facebook are members of what we call “very meaningful” groups. These are groups that upon joining, quickly become the most important part of our social network experience and an important part of our physical support structure. For example, many new parents tell us that joining a parenting group after having a child fits this purpose.”

This is why I protect and value my group.

Social Media Managers are having a tough time with the changes too. Groups have been gaining popularity in recent years with Facebook making it harder for Pages to rank in user’s Newsfeeds. So even as more people begin to use Groups, they’re harder than ever to use.
