It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a true Orlando icon, Harris Rosen, who passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the age of 85. As a philanthropist, community leader, and businessman, Mr. Rosen’s impact extends far beyond his role as the founder of Rosen Hotels & Resorts. His vision and generosity have left an indelible mark on Central Florida and the many lives he touched.
Over the past 20+ years, I have had the privilege of working with Mr. Rosen and his exceptional team at Rosen Hotels & Resorts. Managing and promoting large charity events at the Rosen properties was always an honor, not only because of their world-class venues but because of the heartfelt mission behind each event. My events resulted in record attendance and charitable donations above all expectations. I was swift to recommend the Rosen Shingle Creek property to my clients seeking a venue. Harris Rosen believed in giving back to the community, and his properties were often the backdrop for initiatives that supported education, healthcare, and those in need.
Fun Fact: Before founding Rosen Hotels & Resorts, Harris Rosen worked for the Walt Disney Company as the Director of Hotel Planning. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in designing iconic properties such as the Contemporary Resort, the Polynesian Village Resort, and the Wilderness Lodge. His visionary touch is evident in these legendary Disney resorts, a reflection of his keen eye for detail and excellence in hospitality.
Mr. Rosen’s commitment to philanthropy was unparalleled. His work in launching the Tangelo Park Program, which provided full college scholarships for students in a historically underserved neighborhood, is a testament to his belief in the power of education. His generosity also extended to disaster relief efforts and numerous other community projects, earning him the love and respect of so many.
As a PR agent, social media manager, and event planner, I have seen firsthand the incredible atmosphere of collaboration and purpose that Mr. Rosen cultivated.
